Wednesday was a long day of coverage at the Rivers Casino, and frankly it made us all a bit hungry. If you're planning to head to the casino in the coming days, we have everything you need to know about the food and drink options. Solomon Syed took a tour.

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Let's face it -- flipping cards, stacking chips or rolling around the roulette table can build up quite the appetite. If you need to refuel for the next round -- Rivers is flowing with options.

'So we're standing in the middle of our marketplace, which has four different concepts,' said Bobby Mallozzi, the Rivers Casino food operation partner.

There's burgers and breakfast at 'Flypt.' Italian at Johnny's. Asian Mix at Mian. And if you need a late-night jolt: coffee and dessert at Villa Italia.

'Open 24/7 at the casino, serves espresso, cappuccinos, coffees, pastries, cookies, cupcakes, cinnamon buns, you name it,” said Mallozzi.

How 'bout with a cup of cappuccino fit for a high roller?

'An amazing technological feat -- a completely automatic espresso/cappuccino machine. It's one of 8 Lavazza has in the country, the only one on the east coast,” Mallozzi said.

But the truth is, your dining options don't end there.

'Well, this is our casual steakhouse,” said David Buicko, the Galesi Group president and CEO.

Duke's Chophouse, featuring everything from a 12 ounce top sirloin, to a 32 ounce porterhouse. So whether you're playing the penny slots or looking to raise the 'steaks' with a bigger cut, you won't find anything else like it in Schenectady.

'We don't have a steakhouse here, so from that standpoint it's an affordable one, it's not a special occasion event, but we want people to come here on a regular basis,” Buicko said.

And if you need to wash it down, the mixologist at Van Slyck's has got just the drink for you.

'He's been constructing a lot of cocktails so there's some that are throwbacks to the early 1900s, and there's others that are modern takes,” said Danny Brockdorf, the Rivers Casino vice president of marketing.

It is the perfect complement to a live show, watching the big game, or playing a round of pool with some pub food.

Rivers

'It's really a great place to come with a large group of people because there's so much going on, there's really a taste for everyone,' said Brockdorf.

Now the casino is obviously patterned after Rivers locations in other cities, but they wanted to make sure that each of their restaurants had a decidedly Electric City feel.

'We've got the chandeliers over the gaming tables that are really special,' said Brockdorf. 'The architecture is really that homage to that turn of the century Alco site.'

Nothing says modern like downtown staples Johnny's and Villa Italia.

'I would've never imagined that our brands would be so prominently displayed in this casino, we're very honored,” said Mallozzi.

As is the family of the late Tony DiLaurenzo, the Galesi Group's first-ever employee, nicknamed 'the Duke,' his name now in lights inside the Schenectady-based company's crowning achievement.

'He was everybody's best friend, his mission in life was to make people happy,” Buicko said.

Win or lose, we're betting these eateries will do the same.
